(Yes, You can do this!)
My goal in life has been to make our lives easier with hopefully the added bonus of eating a little healthier then we normally do. I found this recipe & picture from blogger Valerie & wanted to give this a shot. I know that if you're family is like mine, more often then not, you get stuck in this rut of making the same things over and over and over.
Well GUYS, this is genuine cooking GOLD.
Not only a keeper for your family, but this would be perfect to impress any crowd.
Let's get this straight. The prep time is 5 minutes. However, once assembled the cooking time is roughly one hour. On a scale of easy, this was super easy. On a scale of yum, it was super yummy! It's a WIN WIN!!
Yes, you could adjust this to incorporate anything you love or to use fresh ingredients, but the beauty of this recipe is that it's quick to assemble.
Everything you need is basically a canned veggie or soup. I used shredded chicken I whipped up in the instant pot. Although Valerie suggests you may also used canned chicken.
- Mix it all together.
- Throw in a ready-made deep dish pie crust.
- Throw on a ready-made pie crust topper.
- Bake & presto! You won't believe you made it.
My goal with this blog is to make not only my life easier but hopefully others as well. I know often times we see something and think there is no way we could replicate that. This is a promise here that you can do this.
Here's my pictures & tips:
Tip #1: When you plan to make this recipe ensure that your refrigerated pie crust, intended for the topper, is not frozen. This will make it easier to work with.
Tip #2: Didn't get fancy and it turned out great. Just put the pie crust over the top of the filling, pressed with my fingers to seal the edges, and marked with a fork all around the edge. Done.
So happy you loved my recipe! Thank you for posting about it!
